For many of us, the pursuit of happiness has taken the shape of a checklist.
A job. A relationship. A finished yoga practice. A feeling that arrives when the inbox is empty, or the room is finally quiet.
But what if happiness doesn’t live in the future? What if it doesn’t live in the mind at all?
What if happiness actually lives in the body?
Not in the way we often think. Not in the “my body feels good today so I must be happy” kind of way. But in the subtle landscape of sensation—those micro-moments where breath and awareness quietly converge and we remember ourselves as living, breathing, sensing beings.
There are times during practice—or even walking outside, or cooking a meal—when I feel something shift.
A softening.
A return.
Not to any one story, but to presence itself. That place before the narrative. Before the judgment. That liminal hum that just says: yes. This.
It’s not always bliss. Sometimes it arrives as a quiet ache, a lump in the throat, a tear that says “I’m still here.” But when I pause and let myself feel it—truly feel it—it tastes like truth. And that truth feels a lot like joy. Even when it’s painful.
I’ve realized that embodiment is not just being “in” the body—it’s allowing sensation to be the language of aliveness.
To let the breath tell me something my mind could never say.
And to trust that sensation, even when it’s uncomfortable, has something sacred to teach me.
Maybe happiness isn’t the goal. Maybe it’s the byproduct of being here, in this moment, with whatever is present.
So I ask you—when was the last time you felt something deeply before you named it?
When was the last time you simply looked again?
